From January to June of 2015, Kyrgyzstan exported US $2.204 million of vegetables, edible roots and tubers to the Russian market, an increase of 68 percent compared to the same six-month period in 2014, when the total amount of these shipments amounted to US $1.311 million.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan, there are several dozen Russian companies that have turned their attention to potential partnerships with Kyrgyz companies that have offered to start making shipments to Russia to provide large amounts of many types of agricultural products.
The head of Siberia's Department for State Border Facilities of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Golovin, said during a press conference at GTRK Novosibirsk's studio that there was a significant decrease - 35 percent on the year - in vegetable and fruit supplies from Kazakhstan to the Russian region during the first quarter of 2015.
Nikolai Fyodorov, head of Russia's Ministry of Agriculture (Minselkhoz), said that Russia has already been able to find various suppliers to replace the food products that were previously supplied by the US and member states of the European Union (EU).
A representative of Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Agriculture, Erkinbek Choduev, was quoted in a report by Vesti.kg, as having said that 50-100 loads, fulfilled by agriculturalists in the country with fruits and vegetables, are shipped daily to Russia.
INTERFAX at the Minister of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan, the country is ready to export to Russia almost 200,000 tonnes of agricultural products annually.
In Astana today a historic document was signed between the countries of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), as reported by ITAR-TASS.
Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbaev said during a parliamentary meeting that in order to implement the road map for entry into the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan $400 million would be needed.
Kyrgyz farmers have bought a total of 678 MT of seed potatoes at 1000 euros per MT from Holland, Kyrgyzstan Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Taalaibek Aidaraliev said at a press conference.
The government of Kyrgyzstan has adopted a draft roadmap for the country's accession to join the Russia-led Customs Union, as announced by Kyrgyzstan's Economic Minister Temir Sariev on May 12.
