Iranian investors are ready to finance a project to revive apple orchards in the Ayagoz District of eastern Kazakhstan. The two parties have already signed a memorandum of cooperation on the initiative.
Over the last several years, the walnut industry has seen an increase in the number of regions that have dedicated land to establish walnut orchards. This year Kazakhstan is planning to sow a record number of walnut trees in the southern part of the country where the Intensive Gardens project is underway.
Transporting goods from Ukraine and headed for Kazakhstan left for Russia on January 19. The cargo was moving under the supervision of Russian customs officers, who confirmed that these are the new conditions for cargo transportation from Ukraine passing through Russia, Natalia Mikolskaya, Ukraine's deputy minister of economy.
Ukrainian officials stated that shipments en route to Kazakhstan were stopped at the border with Russia, contrary to a Russian decree, in which it stated that transit of Ukrainian goods through Russia are permissible if entering by way of Belarus.
As of January 1, Russia officially banned imports of several types of Ukrainian goods from entering the country. However, there were remaining issues regarding the transit of goods to Kazakhstan from Ukraine by way of Russia. In response to these concerns, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree entitled “Measures to Ensure Economic Security and National Interests of the Russian Federation in the International Transit of Foods from the Territory of Ukraine to the Republic of Kazakhstan through the territory if the Russian Federation”.
A request to increase control at Russia's border with Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was sent by Pavel Sychev, the first Deputy Chairman of the Commission on the support of family, children and motherhood public chamber, to the Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev, head of the Federal Customs Service Andrey Belyaninov and head of Russia's Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, Anna Popova. Members of the Commission fear that evidence of an increase in banned Turkish products in the Russian market will be seen by January 1, 2016.
The initiative of the Federal Customs Service of Russia (FCS) was designed to control traffic crossing the borders of Kazakhstan and Belarus to improve the effectiveness of seizing sanctioned products with false phytosanitary certificates, the head of the agency Andrey Belyaninov confirmed.
An increase in the supplies of various types of food products from Kazakhstan exported to Russia have gained popularity among Moscow consumers, Aleksei Nemeryuk, head of the capital's Department of Trade and Services, said.
Following an inspection of a number of products from Russian companies, Kazakhstan's commitee for Consumer Protection of the Ministry of National Economy decided to end restrictions starting October 15 that were placed on Russian food products in early September, according to the agency's press release.
Russia's President Vladimir Putin and the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, during the XII Inter-regional Cooperation Forum discussed a number of bilateral cooperation matters including on the grounds of the countries' agricultural industrial complex and providing food safety.
