The head of Russia's Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergei Dankvert was in negotiations with Mozambique's Ambassador to Russia
, Saraiva Nguena, to discuss the possible prospects associated with increasing the African country's exports of fruits
and other types of products to the Russian market.
According to exporters of the African country, the Russian market is in significant need of vegetables
, various types of nuts and fruits
from Mozambique, and the market could possibly provide for a niche left available following the ban on many Turkish products.
Rosselkhoznadzor is waiting for a response from the embassy and business community of Mozambique regarding the country's readiness to increase exports. Representatives of the embassy and Rosselkhoznadzor are to have a phone conference to discuss the details of increasing shipments in the future.
