Russia's Sanctions On Ukrainian, Turkish Produce To Begin January 1,2016 Featured

The head of Russia's Federal Service for Surveillance of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) Anna Popova said that the fact that restrictions on Ukrainian and Turkish produce will be in full force as of January 1. She added that food that does not comply with the requirements or that is prohibited for entry into Russia after this date will be destroyed.
Rospotrebnadzor previously has not included retail outlets in its inspections. If retailers or networks have documents to confirm the receipt of Turkish or Ukrainian food prior to January 1, the products will not be confiscated by the agency. Popova said that the agency is getting ready to carry out the new requirements of the sanctions against produce from these two countries. “I want to direct your attention to the official documents (presidential decree and the government resolution) do not include taking products from shelves that were imported (prior to January 1), the head of the agency said.
