Russian Government Confirms Intention To Embargo Ukrainian Food Products

23 November 2015
Russia's Economic Development Minister Alexey Ulyukayev said that Russia intends to impose an embargo against Ukraine starting January 1, 2016.
“Since Ukraine joined anti-Russian sanctions – economic, financial – we've decided to impose … protective measures in the form of a food embargo,” Ulyukayev said on the Rossiya-24 new channel November 18, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS. The Kremlin made a similar announcement in September; although, the reason behind the most recent decision was Ukraine's move to ratify an Association Agreement next year with the European Union.
